Thinking about earnings

'I don't give enough' is a thought at the back of my mind that I occasionally drag to the fore. When I do, I am forced to uncomfortably consider my situation and comparative wealth. This inevitably leads me to think of the many millions of people living in harsh conditions in developing countries and to feel the unfairness. So, to coincide with the launch of this site, I pledge to donate 2% of my income. This is an amount that I feel I can afford by making savings in other areas and is in addition to donations I already make.

This site aims to provide an area where people can think about, discuss and clarify their ideas about charitable giving and the redistribution of wealth from people of the richest to those of poorer nations. It also provides tools that you can use to help you achieve increased giving through the better management of your own resources. So, whether you are examining your lifestyle, your weekly shop, the amount you consume or how you can make savings on your household bills, there is probably something you can do to save and redistribute.

There lies the purpose of this campaign; to encourage people to think about their income in comparison with people in developing countries and to identify areas in their budget where they can make savings and use some, (or all), of the money they save to donate to projects of their choice via charities and Non-Governmental Organisations, (NGOs). Redistributing some of your wealth is a personal choice but the more people make that choice, the greater the benefits to those most in need.
