Working out how much to give....

Every household differs in the way in which they manage their income and the ways in which they give to charity. However, many people feel that they may be able to give just a little bit more. On this page you will find a few ways in which you can make your money work harder for you and free up some money for charitable giving or simply to make things easier for you.

Donation Calculator

One way to assess how much you can afford to give is to simply look at your income and choose a percentage that you would like to give. You can use the quick reference table to see how that might look when you break it down daily, weekly, monthly or annually. Just click on the 'calculate' link below then 'open' the document.

Disposable Income

If you are a high earner, the percentage that you are able to donate and redistribute may be higher as the amount of disposable income you have may be greater.

However, a good way for any household to decide on the amount of charitable donations they make is to fill in a budget sheet and simply to see what is left over.

Martin Lewis' website offers an excellent and free online budget planner - simply fill in your income, spending and how often you receive and spend your money and the service works the rest out for you.
